Going about re-interpreting my photos of photos but keeping the colour. The effect I was achieving in scraping off the paint letting the lines of the gesso show through, reminiscent of the liner effect of an analogue television perhaps?

Editing family photographs.
Thursday, 29 November 2012
Last friday we were introduced to our photo-painting project. Thus far I have sought out old family photos to work from, editing them before going about painting them.
You are required to collect and gather all the materials necessary to construct, over a number of days, a small scale installation in your studio space. Be inventive when deciding on appropriate source material. This set-up installation may be floor based, wall based or freestanding. These installations should be visually stimulating, dynamic in composition, composed of interesting forms, with attention paid to aspects of colour. Set up a functional and individual work space. As part of this research project you are required to record the ongoing process of construction through drawings, imaginative use of sketch book, notebooks, photography, film and collage. 10/12 research works are required.
Allowing for the background of outside the window to get involved made for the pictures to become more interesting, as well as working with more interesting marks.
I wanted to push things further by using a glass dish, magnifying glass or simply moving the camera to create further disruption.
Finally I added another layer of the television screen to give the busy pixelated affect.
